Older Americans Month - 2015

Older American Act 2015 Logo

This year’s theme for Older Americans Act Month is GET INTO THE ACT.  North Carolina Seniors have spent a lifetime making contributions to their families, their community, the state and the nation.  They continue these efforts through giving their time and treasure for the well being of not only each other but for all North Carolina citizens.  This has been accomplished through the many hours volunteering, serving on various committees and attending meetings that have set a standard for future generations.  Seniors are taking charge of their health and making a positive impact on the lives of others across their communities.  North Carolina is fortunate to have active seniors delivering meals, volunteering at senior centers, driving others to doctor appointments and making home repairs among a long list of tasks they perform.  We should not leave all the work to our seniors however.  Anyone can make an impact by getting into the act and working to enhance the lives of older adults.  You can get involved by contacting your local Area Agency on Aging or any of the many organizations that support older Americans.  North Carolinians have always looked out for each other.  It is but one of the many positive aspects of living in such a great state and one of the reasons that the senior population in our state continues to grow.  So Get Into the ACT North Carolina and find out how you can make a difference in the lives of our senior citizens.
