Directions to the DHHS Administrative Buildings at the Dorothea Dix Campus

From I-85 at Durham: Travel to I-40 East (from RDU Airport, follow signs to I-40 East) Stay on I-40 East. until you see the Lake Wheeler Road-- Exit #297.  Take this exit and make a left at the top of the ramp onto Lake Wheeler Road. Go to the 2nd traffic light and turn left.  (This is the main entrance to the Farmers Mkt.). Turn left onto Centennial Parkway. Pass by the Farmers’ Market, continuing around the bend to the 3nd traffic  light. Turn right onto  Blair Drive. (This is the Dix Campus, 290 KB PDF). 

From eastern North Carolina on US 70 West: Take I-40 West. When you reach the divide, take I-40/440 (Inner Beltline West to Durham) until you reach Lake Wheeler Road, Exit #297.  Make a right at the end of the ramp. Take this exit and make a left at the top of the ramp onto Lake Wheeler Road.  Go to the 2nd traffic light and turn left onto Centennial Parkway. (This is the main entrance to the Farmers Mkt.). Pass by the Farmers’ Market, continuing around the bend to the third traffic light. Turn right onto  Blair Drive. (This is the Dix Campus, 290 KB PDF.)

From Eastern North Carolina on US 64 West: When you reach Tower Shopping Center, take I-440 South (toward Benson). Stay on I-40/440 West when it divides.  Follow it straight to Exit #297 (Lake Wheeler Road). Go to the 2nd traffic light and turn left onto Centennial Parkway.  (This is the main entrance to the Farmers Mkt.). Turn right at the third light onto Blair Drive. From downtown Raleigh: Get on Dawson Street. Stay in the right-hand lane until you get to Martin Luther King Boulevard/Western Boulevard.  Bear to your right.  When you reach the top of the ramp, you will be facing Western Boulevard.  Enter to your right, but as you proceed, move toward the left lane.  Turn left at Hunt Drive (directly across from Central Prison, at the stop light).
