In December 2008, the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services awarded a contract to CSC to develop and implement a replacement Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) in support of health care administration for multiple DHHS agencies, including DMA.
The N.C. Office of Medicaid Management Information System Services (OMMISS) provides oversight and manages activities for the procurement and implementation of support sytems and services for the replacement MMIS (called NC Tracks). The OMMISS website provides information about the replacement MMIS, the status of the project, and information that providers can use to prepare their operation for NCTracks when it goes live in the summer of 2013.
CSC will run the system and serve as the fiscal agent for DHHS and its agencies, providing operational support to manage provider and recipient call centers, prior authorization reviews, claims processing, pharmacy operations, medical policy reviews, and other administrative activities. CSC will be the fiscal agent for four years with one 1-year renewal option.
As part of the contract, on April 20, 2009, CSC assumed responsibility for enrollment, credentialing, and verification activities for provider participation with N.C. Medicaid. These activities were previously carried out by DMA Provider Services.
Additional information about CSC and the operational transition of provider enrollment, credentialing and verification activities from DMA to CSC is available in the following general Medicaid Bulletin articles:
