Sign language interpreters are highly skilled professionals who facilitate communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and individuals who do not use sign language. Sign language interpreters work in a variety of settings. Some interpreters have areas of specialty such as oral interpreting (for deaf or hard of hearing persons who do not sign), tactile signing (for individuals who are DeafBlind) and cued speech transliteration.
