December 19, 2008:

  • Open only one session when creating PCR's (PA or OM). If you have more than one Work Flow session open data may be corrupted. If you want to copy information from an existing PCR, save to a Word doc or print the screen. Close that transaction before starting a new PCR.

December 18, 2008:

  • When the career banded levels were loaded into BEACON they were loaded with ranges that reflected a ± 5% halo around the reference rates. This caused confusion when users received a warning message on the Basic Pay screen in SAP whenever they were paying an employee outside of the halo. OSP has requested that the BEACON Support Team remove these halos from the system, and this activity will be completed on 12/18/08 and the system will reflect these changes effective 12/19/08.

    The range for each level will now reflect the full range of the class, rather than different ranges for C, J, and A. In other words, the range for C, J and A will now appear the same as the range for level CB (the class/job) in the system. The market index calculations in the system and in the BI reports will still be calculated based on the reference rates for each level, and thus will not be impacted by this change.

    Specific rates for Min, CRR, JMR, ARR, and Max of career-banded classes are located on the OSP's HR Protected website.


December 12, 2008:

  • Annual Rollover of Vacation Leave to Sick Leave:

    In preparation for the year-end process of rolling over balances for employees with more than 240 hours of vacation leave to sick leave, please ensure that all employee time, especially those with a balance of more than 240 vacation leave hours, is entered and approved in the system by December 31, 2008.

  • Please remind the employees within your respective agencies that they will receive two W-2 statements, one generated from the Central Payroll System and another from the new system, for the 2008 work year.

    The BEACON HR/Payroll System W-2s will be mailed directly to each employee from the Office of the State Controller, whereas W-2s generated from the Central Payroll System will be sent to the appropriate employing agency for distribution to employees.

    More detailed information will be sent to agency payroll offices in the coming weeks.
