July 29, 2008 The BEACON Portal will be unavailable from 5 p.m. on Friday, August 1, through 7 a.m. on Monday, August 4, to process the legislative increase for August pay. July 28, 2008 Records for employees on FMLA and Short-Term Disability during the transition from PMIS to Beacon should be checked for accurate entry in SAP. The record should reflect a Leave of Absence status, so the employee's health insurance can be maintained and paid. For those records not entered correctly or at all, a Leave of Absence will need to be entered by BEST at this point. Absent or incorrect records will also affect BI report data. July 23, 2008 The issue concerning Vacation Leave Accruals has been resolved. At this point employees should see their correct vacation balance in ESS. We have posted this information on the BEST Shared Services Update page (http://www.ncosc.net/BEST/updates.html) and on the BEACON portal home page July 22, 2008 Issue with Vacation Leave Accruals: Time evaluation for monthly employees was not run last night, so their quotas have not been corrected yet. Because of this, state employees who are paid monthly and who have more than two years of service will notice that their vacation balances in ESS are not correct. The issue should be resolved tomorrow (July 23) morning. July 21, 2008 We are aware that leave accrual balances in BEACON are incorrect. Over the weekend, everyone's accrual reverted 7.83. BEACON is working on it and hopes to have the problem corrected soon. July 16, 2008 Laketha Miller, Kathy Gruer update memo on Payroll and Time issues. July 15, 2008 In an effort to assist our HR offices in understanding the Personnel Administration (PA ) and Organization Management (OM) modules of SAP, Julie New, from BEST Shared Services, will host a weekly conference call for DHHS HR staff where she will share information with us about issues (Processing actions, Legislative Increase, etc.) and will provide answers to our questions. Julie is responsible for the HR part of Beacon, not Payroll or Time. She will occasionally cover some benefits issues, but generally, these discussions will involve PA and OM topics. Any and all HR staff that process actions are invited to participate. Please join in these conference calls each Wednesday starting July 16th at 10:00 am using the information below. (The sessions will run for about an hour but must be finished by 11:30am.).
