Good afternoon. Following is the career banding update.
Upcoming DHHR Career Banding Forum:
June 21 at Camp Eason; 10:00-4:00. We are developing the agenda and
will send a separate email with the details.
Performance Management Training
Law enforcement staff received introductory performance management training
on May 5 in Greensboro. The session included:
- comparison of the banded system to the current
system
- explanation of the difference between
competencies and performance.
- discussion and practice writing performance
indicators.
- review of shortened work plan form and needed revisions.
- review of tracking methods and how to write effective
measures.
Trades - has been divided into 3 bands and includes:
Building, Mechanical, and Supervision. Competency profiles have been
drafted and are in final
review.
Administrative/Managerial Job Family
Specifications and concepts for the Legal Branch have been approved
by the State Personnel Commission. OSP transition team is currently writing
Hearing Officer specifications.
Social Research
OSP transition team are currently developing competency profiles.
Human Services Job Family
OSP transition team is developing the cross-walk for the Human Services
Job Family and finalizing the Branches. Profiles for Human Services Providers'
Branch (including counseling and case management roles) will be developed
first.
Institutional Services
This job family includes Nutritional Services and Building/Environmental.
Focus groups represented by Nutritional Services' managers, supervisors,
and rank-and-file employees were held on April 27 for the purpose of
validating competency profiles. Competency profiles for this branch are
being finalized.
The Building/Environmental Branch focus group is being held on May 18,
and will also be represented by managers, supervisors, and rank-and-file
employees.
