DHHS offers training for our managers and supervisors throughout the department.
Two established sets of courses are available: one curriculum for new supervisors and
another for new managers.
As you'll see in the
tables below, supervisors and managers take some of the same courses,
other courses
are unique or modified, and several are optional. The supervisory courses
are taught by DHHS staff.
The manager's curriculum includes
courses taught by the Office of State Personnel (OSP). Managers in DHHS
may also be invited to participate in the state-sponsored Public Manager
Program. You can find information about CPMP on the following website: Certified
Public Manager Program.
Basis of Our Courses
Following a 1999 survey of 1300 supervisors and managers in the department,
DHHS identified a number of critical areas important to success. Based on
these
important competencies, DHHS decided to continue using the DDI
(Development Dimensions International) course materials as our major training
curriculum source.
The modules were updated through a state
contract in July, 2000.
Managing
Effective Performance is
targeted for middle managers:
- Mid-level managers who have supervisors
or other managers who report to them
- Mid-level managers who is supervisoring a statewide program.
Certified
Public Manager Program is a comprehensive,
competency-based, developmental program for middle managers.
How to Register
