Public Health getting a new home this summer
About 600 Division of Public Health (DPH) staff are moving into new offices in North Raleigh, bringing together numerous sections, branches, offices and programs that have been scattered over several different buildings in downtown Raleigh. The moves have been scheduled as the old leases run out at the various locations. The moves began in late July and are expected to continue through September.
Relocating in the former IBM complex at Six Forks Square are the State Health Director’s Office; the Administrative, Local and Community Support Section; the Women’s and Children’s Health Section; the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Section; and the Oral Health Section. From the Epidemiology Section, four units of the Occupational and Environmental Health Branch are moving to the new site. The State Center for Health Statistic’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System and the DPH Human Resources Office will be housed there as well. The new site features three multi-story buildings surrounded by a large parking lot, with overflow parking available across the street. The street addresses are 5505, 5601 and 5605 Six Forks Road. Telephone numbers will change for all those who move; e-mail and most MSC addresses will remain unchanged. Main phones will have forwarding messages directing people to the new numbers, while individual phones will be forwarded for several weeks until people have had a chance to notify clients and associates of the new numbers. The new numbers will also be posted on the North Carolina State Employee Telephone Directory, on the Web at www.ncgov.org/PhoneDirectory/PhoneList.asp. A list of the new main telephone numbers for each office that is
moving is posted on the N.C. Public Health web site at http://www.ncpublichealth.com/newhome.htm.
