Community Care of North Carolina for Uninsured Parents (CCNC-UP)

What is CCNC-UP?
Community Care of North Carolina for Uninsured Parents (CCNC-UP) is a federally funded pilot project that provides limited benefit health coverage and care coordination for uninsured parents who enroll in the program. CCNC-UP is only available in Warren, Pitt and Greene Counties.

Who is eligible to enroll?
To be eligible for CCNC-UP, you must:

  • Be a resident of Warren, Pitt or Greene Counties (North Carolina)
  • Be a United States citizen or a legal resident in the U.S.
  • Not be eligible for Medicaid or Medicare and have no other health insurance
  • Have income below 133% of the federal poverty guidelines
  • Be a parent or legal guardian of a dependent child under age 19 who is living in the home with you
  • Show that your dependent children under age 19 have some type of health insurance or enroll them in Medicaid or N.C. Health Choice

What is covered?

  • Up to $25,000 of health care services each year
  • A free annual checkup and preventive screenings
  • A network of doctors and other health care providers
  • Primary care visits with a $5 copay per visit
  • Up to 5 specialty care visits each year, with a $10 copay per visit
  • Up to 8 behavioral health visits each year, with a $5 copay per visit
  • Up to $10,000 in hospital care and services, including lab and x-rays
  • Free diabetic testing supplies
  • Help getting free or low cost prescription drugs (prescription drug costs are not covered by CCNC-UP)

How to Apply
If you meet the eligibility guidelines above and you need health care coverage, you can apply for CCNC-UP at the county department of social services (DSS).
