CMS lifts threat of funding loss at Umstead HospitalRALEIGH – John Umstead Hospital is no longer under threat of losing its Medicare and Medicaid funding. The Hospital was notified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that it is now in compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation and that CMS was rescinding any termination action, according to Umstead Hospital Director Stephen Oxley. “I congratulate our staff for their hard work and commitment in resolving the issues that CMS cited,” he said. “We are very pleased at the outcome of this action and proud of the fine work and the staff of John Umstead Hospital,” said James Osberg, chief of State Operated Services. Oxley added that CMS surveyors noted some standard levels of deficiencies but acknowledged the Hospital had already submitted a plan of correction. Standard level deficiencies are the lowest form of deficiencies and do not threaten certification.
