Aug. 15, 2018 – This year’s State Employees Combined Campaign is launching with an event Friday from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m. at downtown Raleigh’s Bicentennial Mall to educate employees about their power of giving.

In 2017, DHHS employees donated $304,000.

The SECC gives state employees the opportunity to give portions of each paycheck to SECC charities of their choice. For example, animals in need can be helped with a donation to the Wake County SPCA. Children with life-threatening illnesses can attend summer camp with the help of a donation to the Hole in the Wall Gang.

Charities apply each year to be part of the SECC. More than 80 charities will be on hand at Friday’s event providing information about the work they do across the state.

Event attendees can purchase barbecue sandwich lunches from Pharaoh’s or ChopChop BBQ for $7 (cash only). There will also be a charity scavenger hunt, with participants being eligible to win one of two $50 local restaurant gift cards in a drawing. Other prize drawings will occur every 15 minutes.

This year’s SECC theme, the Power of Giving, represents the powerful impact donations have in the community.
