SECC Aims for $325,000 Goal Before Dec. 14 Deadline

The NC Department of Health and Human Services is looking to reach its goal of raising $325,000 for the State Employees Combined Campaign before Friday, Dec. 14.

Nov. 30, 2018 – The NC Department of Health and Human Services is looking to reach its goal of raising $325,000 for the State Employees Combined Campaign before Friday, Dec. 14.

“So many of these charities support our work,” said DHHS Secretary Mandy Cohen, MD. “The combined campaign is our chance to return the favor, but we need employees’ help to meet our goal.”

The SECC supports more than 900 eligible local, national and international charities, and many of them support the work of DHHS.

Campaign contributors are also eligible to win prizes. Secretary Cohen is holding a drawing for a free lunch with her and two colleagues of the winner’s choice. Another drawing will be held for all participating employees are automatically entered to win either a 55” smart TV or an iPad.

As of Nov. 26, more than 1,600 DHHS employees have contributed $232,707 in donations, which is 72 percent of the $325,000 goal. Since beginning in 1985, the campaign has raised more than $107 million. Last year, $3.71 million was donated during the campaign, with DHHS employees donating $304,000. 

This year’s theme, “The Power of Giving,” represents the campaign’s belief in the generosity that exists in North Carolina.
