May 23, 2019 – The Division of Health Benefits’ Provider Services has developed a comprehensive plan to engage and support providers through the transition to NC Medicaid Managed Care. The plan includes both web resources and live interaction with providers.
In March, NC Medicaid launched an updated Provider webpage putting information about current Medicaid and Medicaid Managed Care in one central place for providers. The new design also includes a new Provider Transition to Managed Care page currently featuring links to resources such as training courses, health plan meet-and-greet forums and virtual office hours.
"We wanted to have several opportunities to engage with providers in-person and virtually," said Sheila Platts, Associate Director, Provider Services. "We are pleased with the participation and the feedback received to-date and will continue to assist providers and their staff through this transition."
Training courses are being conducted through a series of webinars to support providers and practices during their transition to NC Medicaid Managed Care. "General" webinars are overviews of significant changes and features of the managed care program. "Topical" webinars are in-depth reviews of specific managed care topics. More than 3,700 people attended the first four webinars with several more planned. More information can be found here.
Virtual office hours are an interactive format for providers to have their questions answered. A panel of NC Medicaid subject matter experts on various topics will be available to answer questions. The first session on April 26 had more than 120 attendees. More sessions will be announced soon.
Health plan meet-and-greet forums offer providers an opportunity to meet with health plan representatives, ask specific questions about provider network participation and Medicaid Managed Care transition. Health Plans and NC Medicaid subject matter experts are on site to respond to provider inquiries. More than 300 people have attended regional forums in Boone, Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, Henderson, Rocky Mount, Smithfield and Winston-Salem. More dates and additional information can be found here.
