Bridge to Success

Bridge to Success (B2S) is a new program to support students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) at six community colleges in North Carolina. B2S is offered by the Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities in partnership with the NC Community College System.

Students with I/DD at the six community colleges listed below may apply for services through B2S. Eligible students will receive ongoing support from B2S as they pursue their education and prepare for their career.

Bridge to Success Services May Include:

Each eligible student will develop an individualized plan for employment (IPE) in collaboration with your B2S Case Manager. Services may include, but are not limited to:

• Vocational evaluation and counseling
• Career guidance and job exploration
• Benefits counseling
• Assistive technology tools and training
• Internships and other work learning opportunities
• Help with applications and interviews
• Job search and placement help
• On the job training and support
• Other services and supports, depending on individual needs

How Bridge to Success Works

B2S Case Managers are based on campus so you can easily access services and support. They will assess your interests, skills and abilities. They will help you pick an employment goal and create a plan of all the services you need to achieve your goal.

B2S will help you find a job that you are good at and enjoy doing. They’ll help you write a resume, fill out applications, practice for interviews and prepare to get hired. After you are hired, B2S support continues for 90 days to ensure that the job remains a good fit for you and the employer. If you need longer-term support to keep your job, your B2S Case Manager will make sure that you have those supports in place.
