Speech Devices
NC Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DSDHH) collaborates with the NC Assistive Technology Program (NCATP) to offer specialized equipment for persons with some type of speech disability. The distributed speech devices offer eligible North Carolinians with speech disabilities to communicate and connect to the telephone, or mobile devices.
Eligibility
To apply for a speech device you must meet certain eligibility requirements:
- Up to 250% of poverty level
- Certificate of disability
- Resident of North Carolina
Available Equipment
- Speech generating devices: has built-in eye tracking system and without eye tracking system
- Fluency system for stuttering
- Artificial larynx
- Outgoing speech amplification telephones
