The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services announced today that people who receive help buying food through the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) program or cash assistance through the Work First program can now access account information through a free mobile application called ebtEDGE.
The app will allow people in the two programs to use their smartphone to look up their account balance, deposit and transaction history, and benefit schedules. Recipients will still be able to also use existing channels to find this information, such as calling 1-888-622-7328. Online customer service is also available at ebtedge.com.
“Our highest priority is the health and well-being of the people we serve,” said David Locklear, Deputy Director of Economic and Family Services in the Division of Social Services. “Giving people faster, easier access to their benefit information will help families use this help in the way that makes the most sense for them.”
The FNS program provides help buying food to more than one million low-income North Carolinians. Benefits are issued via Electronic Benefit Transfer cards (EBT cards). To learn more about who is eligible for FNS or the application process, click here.
