Because of the federal government shutdown at the beginning of the year, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services continues to adjust distribution schedules for Food and Nutrition Services benefits.
“We thank families for their patience and understanding during this difficult and uncertain period while we’ve worked to make sure their access to food was uninterrupted. Now it’s time to return them to their normal benefit cycles,” said DHHS Deputy Secretary for Human Services Tara Myers.
For the month of April, families and individuals who normally receive FNS benefits from the first through the 11th of the month will receive benefits on their normal cycle. Those scheduled to receive benefits from the 12th of the month through the 21st will receive them on April 12.
To assure all enrolled families and individuals could continue to access food during the shutdown, early distributions were made in February. The schedule was adjusted in March and April to minimize the impact of the early distributions. All families will resume their normal FNS distribution schedule in May.
There is no change in the amount of benefits available to beneficiaries due to the schedule changes.
