More Than A Job NC may satisfy work requirements and is a free program that connects you with top-notch employment and training providers. Services span across North Carolina and are customized to develop the skills or education essential for your professional journey in today’s competitive workforce. Our dedicated providers assist in job searches, interview preparation, education, job training, and more. No matter where you are on your employment journey, More Than A Job NC is an accessible and flexible program that is ready to support you in reaching professional goals.

Program Services

Career Planning: Discover in-demand careers tailored to your skills and interests. Benefit from coaching, assistance in identifying growth opportunities, and goal planning.

Job Search: Navigate the job market confidently. Utilize services like job search strategy guidance, resume building and review, and interview preparation.

Training for In-Demand Jobs: Quickly earn recognized credentials and experience in fields like welding, forklift operation, mechanics, IT, nursing assistant, and more.

Student Support: Access More Than A Job NC services on your community college campus for academic support, including English as a Second Language (ESL) or General Educational Development (GED) coursework, career counseling, and financial navigation.

Financial Support: Receive assistance for various needs, including transportation, work clothing, testing costs, and more.

Continued Support: Even after securing a great job, More Than A Job NC stands by you, providing ongoing support for a smooth transition and growth in your new role.

An individual is eligible to receive More Than A Job NC services if they:

  • Are a member of an active FNS unit.
  • At least 16 years of age.
  • A resident of a county operating a More Than A Job NC Program.
  • Able to work upon program completion.
  • Have the physical and mental ability to work at least 20 hours per week. For beneficiaries with a verified disability, such as an active SSI beneficiary, their statement or provided documentation will be used to determine More Than A Job NC eligibility.

An individual cannot receive More Than A Job NC services if they:

  • Are an applicant or beneficiary of Work First Family Assistance (WFFA) required to participate in employment services. FNS beneficiaries who are a part of WFFA Child-Only cases may receive More Than A Job NC services.
  • Are a refugee subject to work requirements imposed by a Refugee Resettlement Program (RRP).

 

The program is expanding statewide and is currently available in the following counties:

Alamance, Anson, Beaufort, Bertie, Buncombe, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Caswell, Catawba, Carteret, Chatham, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Cumberland, Durham, Edgecombe, Forsyth, Gaston, Graham, Greene, Guilford, Halifax, Harnett, Hertford, Hoke, Hyde, Iredell, Jackson, Johnston, Lee, Lenoir, Lincoln, Martin, McDowell, Mecklenburg, Moore, Nash, Northampton, Orange, Pitt, Randolph, Richmond, Robeson, Rockingham, Rowan, Rutherford, Scotland, Stokes, Surry, Union, Vance, Wake, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Wilson
