Hearing Loss Population Statistics

The following maps show the 2024 and projected 2040 hearing loss totals for people in North Carolina 18 and over by county. It is projected that by 2040, 1 in 4 people will be diagnosed with a hearing loss. Data for these maps were obtained from NC Office of State Budget and Management’s demographics and county/state population projection, and the United States Census Bureau. The colors of the counties represents the catchment service area of a DSDHH regional center.
